Bank of Ireland’s retail executive steps down

The bank’s retail chief had been seen by many as an early favourite to replace Richie Boucher, when the former CEO retired last year. However, he lost out to external candidate Francesca McDonagh who took over as group CEO in October.

In a statement, Francesca McDonagh thanked Liam McLoughlin for his time with the bank.

“Personally, on behalf of the group, I want to thank Liam for his loyal service and commitment and to take this opportunity to wish him every success in the next phase of his career.”

Bank of Ireland said a process to find a replacement is underway, in the meantime Des Crowley, ceo of Retail UK, will step in as interim CEO of Retail Ireland in tandem with his existing portfolio.
