BARON CORBIN prevailed in the final of two thrilling Money In The Bank Ladder matches to secure his title shot at the WWE’s annual PPV.
The Princess Of Staten Island, Carmella opened up the show by winning the first-ever women’s Money In The Bank Ladder match – but only after some help from partner in crime James Ellsworth.
While teasing a cash in, Carmella would eventually decline.
Elsewhere on an action-packed show, Jinder Mahal retained his title against Randy Orton, and Maria Kanellis returned to the company after a seven-year absence.
In the main event, Corbin secured the briefcase – and his guaranteed title shot at any time over the next 12 months – after pushing AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura off the ladder and then climbing up and taking the title.
The Lone Wolf Corbin had assaulted Nakamura during his entrance, forcing Nakamura out of most of the bout.
Eventually Nakamura returned for the end of the match – which also involved Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn and Dolph Ziggler.
Mahal yet again needed the assistance of the Singh Brothers, who attacked Orton’s father, former grappler Cowboy Bob Orton who was sitting in the front row.
Orton then snapped and demolished the Singh Brothers on the outside of the ring, before walking straight into The Khallas for the 1-2-3.
The Modern Day Maharaja retained in sneaky circumstances as has been the norm.
The defeat was in Orton’s home town of St Louis, Missouri.
Naomi defended her Smackdown women’s title against Lana at Money in the Bank – and briefcase winner Carmella resisted cashing in for her title shot.
Debutant Lana put up a strong showing against Naomi, hitting her with Two suplexes – but eventually Naomi kept her title by making Lana submit after both fighters had looked to the outside of the ring to see briefcase holder Carmella strut around.
Naomi capitalised and Lana was beaten.
Carmella not once, but twice teased cashing in the briefcase during the match…but eventually skipped away with partner Ellsworth.
It was Ellsworth who helped Carmella win the first ever women’s Money in the Bank ladder match in controversial fashion in the event’s opening contest – flooring Becky Lynch and then climbing the ladder to secure briefcase himself.

Ellsworth then passed the briefcase to Carmella, the bell sounded and after some deliberation it was announced that the Princess Of Staten Island had won.
Her rivals Natalya, Lynch, Charlotte and Tamina looked on absolutely distraught as Carmella and Ellsworth celebrated with the case.
Maria Kanellis made a sensational return to the WWE at Money In The Bank – alongside real-life hubby Mike Bennett.
The couple came during the show to cut a promo about how much in love they were, and Bennett added that he was using Maria’s surname Kanellis as part of the gimmick.
Maria has not featured in WWE since 2010. She married Mike in 2014.
The pair had been a team in New Japan, Ring Of Honor and TNA.
Maria had explicit pictures leaked as part of celebrity scandal which hit wrestling divas earlier this year. It was unclear when her pictures were taken.
Maria had also posed for the April 2008 cover of Playboy magazine, which was also used as part of her WWE storyline.
She started her wrestling career in 2004 when she came fifth in the RAW Diva search, as the WWE looked for extra talent.
The 35-year-old only came fifth in the contest, but was hired as a backstage interviewer anyway in some of the company’s glory years.
Maria competed in her first official WWE match in 2005 on RAW in a lingerie pillow fight, which she lost.
She had a number of high profile feuds in the ring over her career, and was also the girlfriend of ex-ace Santino Marella.
Her last match before her return was in February 2010 in a six-man tag team bout which she went on to lose.
She was released from her contract the next day and has been in various wrestling promotions ever since before Money in the Bank.
