Body of missing 16-year-old found near Macon

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. – Police have located the body of a missing 16-year-old. 

The Alpharetta Police Department said Elijah Smith’s body was found in Twiggs County Saturday morning. 

Police told Channel 2’s Mike Petchenik that two people have been charged with Smith’s shooting death.

Deri Bonaventura-Flores,19, of Norcross and Hali Karlan, 20, of Roswell.

Police said Karlan and Flores met with Smith at the Extended Stay Hotel in Alpharetta on Tuesday.

The three left the hotel in a vehicle late at night.

Shortly after leaving, police said Smith was shot and killed inside the vehicle at an address on Old Milton Pkwy near the Hotel.

Karlan is currently in the Fulton County jail. Flores is in the Polk County jail on an unrelated charge with a hold placed by Alpharetta’s agency.
