Boston Children’s named top hospital for kids by U.S. News and World Report

For the fifth year in a row, Boston Children’s Hospital has been named the best pediatric hospital in the nation by U.S. News & World Report.

Additionally, the hospital received high marks for 10 specialities, including top rankings in pediatric neurology & neurosurgery, pediatric orthopedics, pediatric gastroenterology & GI surgery, pediatric nephrology and pediatric urology. 

U.S. News analyzed hospital data from close to 5,000 centers across the country, ranking medical facilities on patient outcome and care-related factors, such as patient safety and nurse staffing. 

Boston Children’s is a 415-bed teaching hospital. In the last year, it had 15,817 admissions to the hospital and handled 59,191 visits to the emergency room. Doctors performed 6,769 inpatient and 20,212 outpatients surgeries last year.

Hospital officials said in a statement that they are “thrilled and honored” to be named the top pediatric hospital again this year. “Thank you to all of our patient families and staff members for making this possible.”
