Chester Bennington’s widow shares goofy family video

Just hours before he committed suicide, late Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington was goofing off with his children, wife Talinda revealed in a heartbreaking Twitter video.

“This is what depression looked like to us just 36 hrs b4 his death,” Chester’s wife of nearly 12 years wrote Saturday. “He loved us SO much & we loved him.”

In the video, Chester and two other people play a game in which they have to spin to see what color jelly bean they have to eat.

Chester lands on a “rotten egg” flavor and immediately spits out the candy in disgust while making funny faces, much to the delight of the laughing children also seated at the table.

Talinda prefaced the video on Twitter with an emotional message that noted the fact that suicidal thoughts can often go undetected.

“My next tweet is the most personal tweet I have ever done. I’m showing this so that you know that depression doesn’t have a face or a mood,” she wrote.

Since her husband’s death, Talinda has become an advocate in helping to end the stigma of mental illness, and has offered herself as a listening ear to fans struggling with the same demons as her husband.

She started a “#F–kDepression” movement on Twitter in an effort to help promote suicide awareness, and uses the hashtag to share her thoughts while urging others to do the same.

On Sept. 7, she shared a similar post that showed Chester smiling while looking out over the ocean with his children.

“This was days b4 my husband took his own life,” she captioned the photo. “Suicidal thoughts were there, but you’d never know #f–kdepression.”

Chester’s 15-year-old son Draven has been advocating for suicide prevention, too, and last week appeared in a PSA for National Suicide Prevention Week.

Chester was just 41 when he hanged himself in his Los Angeles home in July.
