Fantasy Football Week 1: Last-minute replacements for inactive Odell Beckham ahead of Sunday Night Football

Odell Beckham
was ruled inactive for Week 1 against the
Dallas Cowboys
Sunday, after going through pre-game warmups. That shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, as Beckham was nearly non-existent in
New York Giants
‘ practice as he recovers from an ankle injury.

Beckham should be back in Week 2, but if you were planning on using him in Week 1, you’ve got to make a last-second change to your roster. Hopefully you were smart and had a contingency plan available, but if not, we’re going to help you find some emergency fill-in options to add to your roster at the last minute, based on players playing in Sunday or Monday night’s games:

Flex Options to consider…

  • Evan Engram
(45% owned) is another player who could benefit from Beckham’s absence. He’s a huge risk in his first NFL game, but the talent is obvious, and he could be a star.
  • The talent is… less obvious when it comes to
    Coby Fleener
(71%), one of the biggest busts in all of Fantasy last season. However, he did go off for 109 yards on seven receptions and a score in a game Snead missed last season.
  • We expect the
    Los Angeles Chargers
to give the lion’s share of the work at tight end to
    Hunter Henry
this season, but they still have some unfinished business with
    Antonio Gates
(26%). He is one touchdown away from breaking the all-time record for touchdowns for a tight end, and getting that out of the way would be a nice way to open the season.

  • Latavius Murray
(67%) is weirdly in a similar spot to Gates. You’re just hoping he takes a touchdown away from a more talented young guy ahead of him on the depth chart. Just roll the die and hope you get the right number. It might be the best you can do.
