Fears 2,000 more bank staff were denied tracker mortgage | Ireland

Up to 2,000 additional employees of Irish banks could have been incorrectly denied a tracker mortgage, it has been claimed. Larry Broderick, head of the Financial Services Union, said he did not know the precise number of staff that were caught up in the industry-wide tracker scandal, but estimated that thousands more were.

Bank of Ireland admitted yesterday to incorrectly denying 6,000 more customers a tracker mortgage. It is understood that the additional customers were recognised by the bank after pressure from the Central Bank. It had previously said that 600 customers were denied a tracker while 3,700 more were charged the wrong rate.
