Craziest experience ever!
That is how Paul Ziolkowski of Atlantic Highlands, whose pseudonym is “Pauly Walnuts” on Facebook, described his encounter with a humpback whale to an Asbury Park Press reporter on Saturday.
This is certainly not the first time that a Shore boater has mingled with the wildlife that reside right off our shores. The Asbury Park Press has produced a video of what happens when we humans leave our habitat for theirs.
Ziolkowski was on a boat near the entrance to New York Harbor this past week when he had a whale of an experience with one of nature’s largest creatures of the deep.
This is how Ziolkowski described the experience on his Facebook page, with the profanity censored with a ——:
“This definitely was one of the craziest experiences in my life and I’ve had many, who the —— would have thought I would see some Moby Dick —— right here outside the Verrazano (bridge) on my boys’ 19 footer,” wrote the local welder and driver.
“That humpback was chasing bunker all the way up to the side jumped out of the water and tapped the hull of my boat knocking bunker into the boat. Crazy, I know it sounds like a fish story LOL but these #NewJersey waters are serious,” he wrote.
