Kathy Griffin questioned by Secret Service for “over an hour”

Kathy Griffin’s Trump-related troubles are not over yet.

According to journalist Yashar Ali — who has often touted his own closeness to Griffin — the comedian “has been interviewed by the Secret Service, in-person, for over an hour… investigation still not closed.” The investigation stems from the late-May release of the now-infamous Tyler Shields photograph of the star posing with a bloodied Donald Trump mask that appeared to suggest the president had been decapitated.

Last month Griffin seemingly confirmed this with a tweet to TMZ, a celebrity gossip network that is believed by some to have a pro-Trump bias.

It first came out that Griffin would be investigated for the photograph in early June, during which time her lawyers said she intended to fully cooperate with the Secret Service. While the scope or intent of the investigation is not clear at this stage, the agency has similarly interviewed artists such as Ted Nugent when they make direct or indirect threats toward a sitting president or presidential candidate.

During a rambling press conference last month, Griffin ridiculed the idea that anyone could believe she posed a threat to President Donald Trump, given that she’s 56 years old and “110 pounds when wet.” She also stated that “I’m not afraid of Donald Trump. He’s a bully” and said that if she could redo the controversial picture, she would have used “a blowup doll and no ketchup.”

She also pleaded with Trump to recognize that, although she is an “obnoxious comedian,” she is not a threat to him and does not deserve the backlash she has since received.

The picture in question showed a solemn-looking Griffin holding a model of Trump’s head, which looked bloodied and screaming. During her press conference, Griffin described this as an attempt at “parody of Trump’s own sexist remarks taken to an extreme, absurdist visual.”

Meanwhile, Griffin has not held back on insulting Trump despite the ongoing controversy surrounding her art piece. Last week she tweeted that “POTUS likes to punch down. Whether it’s anchors, US Attorneys, or standup comics. Meanwhile, millions are about to lose health insurance.”
