Man in woman’s wig robs bank in Lawrence

Lawrence police are asking for the public’s help as they work to track down a man who donned a woman’s wig Monday afternoon and robbed a bank.

Shortly before noon, officers from the Lawrence Police Department were called to the Old National Bank branch located at 8930 E. 56th St. to investigate a robbery.

Witnesses said a thin, clean shaven suspect who stood between 5-foot-8-inches and 6-feet tall approached the counter holding a piece of paper.

Police said the suspect demanded money and told employees that he had a gun, but no weapon was displayed.

After being given an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect left the scene on foot.

Police said the suspect was not seen entering a vehicle, and it was unclear what direction the suspect was walking.

Lawrence Police and the FBI are working together to investigate the robbery.

Anyone with information about the robbery or the suspect is asking to contact Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana.
