In Crawford County, the ‘Shops @ the Bank’ in downtown Meadville is for sale, and a new buyer could be named as early as this weekend.
The building, the former PNC First National Bank, was put up for sale a month ago. Dr. Ed Fine purchased the bank in 2005, transforming the run-down building into an open retail space for start up companies.
Several shops have come and gone from the space, but now the building is up for sale.
The seller’s agent tells us a local buyer is interested in purchasing the space and keeping a similar set-up. “I think it gives the downtown a lot more life… it’s much more vibrant,” says Cherie Jones, “If we don’t have the typical, run of the mill, office space we would have shops we used… a coffee shop and lots of other things, and it’s that we need.”
Jones says a potential tenant is also very interested in filling a lot of open space on the first floor.
