National Chicken Wing Day (7/29/17): How to get freebies and deals at Hooters, Wingstop, more

The most popular snack while people watch football is chicken wings, so it makes sense to celebrate National Chicken Wing Day on July 29 — the same week NFL teams started training camp to get ready for the season.

To celebrate National Chicken Wing Day, restaurants in New Jersey and across the country, such as Buffalo Wild Wings, Wingstop, Hooters, Applebee’s and others, will be offering deals and free and cheap wings on July 29. Here is a rundown of deals for National Chicken Wing Day.

At Buffalo Wild Wings, one of the most popular chain restaurants in the country, customers can get an order of boneless wings with fries for $9.99 or an order of traditional wings plus fries for $12.99.

There are 14 Buffalo Wild Wings locations in New Jersey.

At Hooters, get 10 free smoked wings when you purchase any 10 wings. Hooters has New Jersey locations in Lawrenceville, East Brunswick, Somerset, Atlantic City, Wayne and Hackensack.

If you don’t have time to sit down for a meal, customers can pop into one of New Jersey’s eight Wingstops to celebrate National Chicken Wing Day from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and receive five free chicken wings with any purchase.

Applebee’s is serving up their double crunch bone-in wings or boneless wings for $5.25 each, nearly half-off their regular pice. To take advantage of the offer, you must dine in at an Applebee’s on July 29. There are more than 50 New Jersey locations.

Locally, Office Tavern Grill, which has locations in Morristown and Summit, is offering six wings for $11.

The catch? Each wing is advertised as being 1,000 calories. How is that possible? Well, each wing is freshly baked, breaded, fried, wrapped in bacon, tempura battered and fried again, crusted in potato chips and fried a third time, coated in melted Gorgonzola cheese and drizzled with spicy buffalo sauce and bleu cheese dressing, according to the restaurant.

If there is one day to scarf down a 1,000 calorie wing and not feel too guilty about it is National Chicken Wing Day. Enjoy.
