Police investigating bank robbery in downtown Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – Police are looking for a suspect after responding to a bank robbery call at the Chase Bank near Tejon Street and Boulder Street Saturday morning in Colorado Springs.

A witness who called 911 reported the suspect had stolen money and fled southwest by foot, police said.

A customer was making a deposit at the bank when a stranger stole the money envelope from her and ran out of the bank, investigators said. This is classified as a felony theft and not a bank robbery.

Officers responded to the scene at about 9:26 a.m. and began searching Monument Valley Park and the surrounding area.

Investigators are still trying to identify and locate the suspect.

Nobody was hurt, and there is no ongoing danger to the public.
