Police manhunt after attempted armed robbery at bank in Little Lever

Police are using a helicopter to search for a man after reports he attempted to steal cash from a bank in Bolton.

The suspect allegedly walked into the RBS bank on High Street in the village of Little Lever, and tried to steal money, while armed with a weapon.

Thankfully no one was injured during the incident, and it is believed the suspect, who wore a motorcycle helmet left empty handed.

A spokeswoman for GMP said: “Shortly before 3.25pm today (Friday), police were called to reports of an armed robbery at a bank on High Street, Little Lever.

“A man wearing a motorbike helmet threatened staff and demanded cash.

“No one was injured during the incident and nothing was taken. It is unclear what the man was armed with.

“A police helicopter has been deployed in an attempt to find him.”

Four police cars, and ambulance and two armed response units were spotted at the scene by eyewitnesses.

A police helicopter was then seen circling around the village following the incident.
