Sean Hannity on Media Coverage of Trump’s MSNBC Tweets: “They’re a Bunch of Crybabies”

The subject dominated talk radio, where most conservatives criticized the president for “inappropriate” tweets about Mika Brzezinski.

Sean Hannity bucked a media trend Thursday by mostly sticking up for President Trump after he was roundly criticized for his infamous tweets about MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough.

“This is the same show that called the president a ‘schmuck,’ and a ‘liar,’ and a ‘thug,’ and ‘mentally unhinged,’ and advances conspiracies all over this network 24/7 and, you know, I guess he got sick of taking it,” Hannity told his radio audience.

Hannity, of course, was responding to Trump tweeting Thursday morning that “low I.Q. Mika, along with Psycho Joe came to Mar-a-lago 3 nights in a row around New Year’s Eve, and insisted on joining me. She was bleeding badly from a face-lift. I said no!”

Hannity conceded that he wishes the president would not have issued the tweet, but defended it nonetheless.

“The media could sure dish it out but they’re a bunch of crybabies that can’t handle any pushback,” Hannity said.

“And here’s the bigger truth … Donald Trump does not need them,” the radio host said, refering to the news media. “He can reach more Americans with a single tweet than all the combined networks and newspapers.”

Hannity justified the president’s tweet by calling the hosts of MSNBC’s Morning Joe and others at the network “unhinged” and “bordering on psychotic” in their coverage of Trump.

Hannity’s defense of the tweet was rare, however, even on conservative talk radio. Glenn Beck, for example, couldn’t believe Trump would treat one of his Mar-a-lago guests so shabbily, judging her on the appearance of her face post-surgery.

Michael Medved said on his nationally syndicated show that Trump behaved “like a 4-year-old” and that the tweet harmed him while it elevated Brzezinski and Scarborough.

“How is this smart? How is it tough?” Medved asked. “This should be a milestone and the president should do something that I don’t believe he’s ever done, which is apologize.”

And Rush Limbaugh said that “nothing can justify” the president’s tweet, then he told a few anecdotes to “add some spice” to the story.

Limbaugh told of a meet-and-greet where he gave Brzezinski and Scarborough each an iPad with his “Excellence in Broadcasting” logo on them, then he heard later that, on their show, they were “trashing me like I have never been trashed.”

Limbaugh also said he dined with Trump on March 23 and the subject of Brzezinski and Scarborough came up. “Those two are weird,” Limbaugh says Trump told him.

“New Year’s Eve, they call, they begged to come to Mar-a-lago. They want to be around me … I didn’t want them there, but they wanted to come. And they hang out for all three days, and I kind of felt obligated to have them,” Limbaugh continued, recalling his conversation with Trump.

“I read this tweet today, and apparently he’s been bugged by that ever since it happened,” Limbaugh said.
