The 365 HP Porsche 718 GTS Has More Power, More Alcantara, Still The Same Number Of Cylinders

The Porsche 718, in both Cayman and convertible Boxster variants, is a genuinely good and fast car, but some say they just don’t have the classic character of the old 6-cylinder models. Porsche is hoping to change that perspective with the new 718 GTS.

Like the Boxster/Cayman GTS that came before, this trim gives the 2.5-liter turbocharged flat-four the requisite power upgrade to 365 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque. To put that in perspective, that is only 20 hp down on the awesome Cayman GT4 and eight more lb-ft of torque. Porsche claims the 718 GTS can run to 60 mph in under four seconds when equipped with the PDK transmission. Of course, a six-speed manual will be available as well.

On the inside, practically everything is covered in Alcantara, which depending on your perspective can be a good thing or a bad one. The GTS is outfitted with some satin black wheels and other black exterior trim pieces to send the subtle message that this car is just a bit more serious than its siblings.

Pricing will start at $79,800 for the Cayman GTS and $81,900 for the Boxster GTS with US deliveries slated sometime in March of 2018.
