The biggest bank in the Nordics forbids employees to trade with cryptocurrencies

TT / Mark Lennihan

Today Nordea announced that employees at the bank will no longer be allowed to trade in cryptocurrencies. The prohibition affects some 31,000 employees, and implies a company-wide adoption of the prohibition on cryptocurrency trading which went into effect for employees within Wholesale Banking last week.

According to Nordea’s public relations officer Stine Green Paulsen the measure is taken preemptively.

“It is such an unregulated market and we are concerned that our co-workers may get themselves into situations that are unethical or criminal,” she says to TT.

Employees who have already invested in cryptocurrencies will be allowed to keep them.
