What is the UK weather forecast for this spring bank holiday weekend?

Brits spent their Friday basking in the sun on the hottest day of the year so far.

The Met Office has predicted that parts of the country on Saturday could enjoy sweltering temperatures of 27C like in London, while Ibiza is only expected to only reach 25C.

However, thundery downpours are not far behind.

Met forecaster Emma Sharples said:“There is a chance of thundery outbreaks and some heavy downpours due to warm, humid and unstable air.

“There will be a bit of respite from the thundery showers on Sunday and temperatures will remain in the mid to low 20s.

“However by Bank Holiday Monday, the air will become a bit fresher.”

Temperatures could hit 29C on Saturday and Sunday.

This mini heatwave will hopefully make Saturday’s FA Cup Final one of the hottest on record.

The highest May temperature on record was in 1944 when it reached 32.8C.
